Jonathan Larson Grants - 2006
Alison Loeb received the Jonathan Larson Grant in 2006. She’s a veteran of the BMI Lehman Engel songwriting workshop, an alumna of the O’Neill Cabaret workshop, and a member of ASCAP. Her MendelsSongs (a song cycle) and script and lyrics for Mendelssohn on the Hudson (podcast produced by Inwood Art Works), feature her oral histories of the German Jews of Washington Heights, set to Felix Mendelssohn’s Songs without Words. Alison and her husband, actor Sam Guncler, create video shorts—animated and live—based on her songs and stories. Their videos have won awards at film festivals across the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
