As most of our theatre lovers already know, this beautiful show honors love, acceptance, and the emergence of a new type of musical that Jonathan Larson brought to the stage in 1996 just shortly after he passed away.
Celebrate his legacy by watching Rent Live, then join us on our social channels to celebrate recipients of the Jonathan Larson Grants. The Jonathan Larson Grants over the last 22 years have supported over 80 up and coming composers, lyricists, and librettists who commit to tell new stories through musical theatre.
Thanks to the resources of the Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation and the generosity of the Larson Family, the program will be sustained in a permanent home at the American Theatre Wing.
