Playreaders Club Honored as Finalist at Anthem Awards

American Theatre Wing’s Playreaders Club has been honored as a finalist in the Education, Art & Culture – Event in Community Voice Category for the 4th Annual Anthem Awards.

Anthem Winners are selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. Judges for the 4th Annual Anthem Awards include Janine Brady, Managing Director of Communications at Schmidt Futures; Haven Ley, SVP of Program Strategy, Investments, and Communications, and CSO at Pivotal Ventures; Roma McCaig, Chief Public Affairs and Impact Officer at REI Co-op; Wendy R. Weiser, Vice President of Democracy at the Brennan Center for Justice; Brett Peters, Global Lead at TikTok for Good, TikTok; C.D. Glin, President of PepsiCo Foundation; Aurora James, Activist and Fashion Designer at the Fifteen Percent Pledge; Michelle Waring, Steward for Sustainability and Everyday Good at Tom’s of Maine; Trovon Williams, Sr. Vice President of Marketing & Communications at the NAACP; Singleton Beato, Global EVP, Chief DEI Officer at McCann Worldgroup, and many others.

In partnership with the Drama Book Shop, the Playreaders Club brings together theatre enthusiasts, professionals, students, and educators to read and discuss interesting works each month – through virtual and in-person events with special guests at The Drama Book Shop. Each play is selected by an expert committee with the aim of raising awareness of diverse authors and works that audiences may not have previously encountered on stage.

This year marks the 2nd Annual Anthem Community Voice Celebration, which uplifts the work of Anthem Finalists. Supporters can celebrate the Wing’s work online from October 15th to October 31st at celebrate.anthemawards.com. All Finalists are also in the running to win a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Anthem Award, selected by Anthem judges. The winners for the 4th Annual Anthem Awards will be announced on Tuesday, November 19th, 2024.

The 4th Annual Anthem Awards marked the most competitive season yet, with more than 2,300 entries submitted from 34 countries worldwide. By amplifying the voices that spark global change, the Anthem Awards are setting a new benchmark for impactful work that inspires others to take action in their communities. A portion of program revenue is allocated to the Anthem Fund, our grant program.
