That’s why we are thrilled to announce the pilot of the American Theatre Wing’s Master Class Series, as well as our first Master Class Artist: Cynthia Erivo.

Moderated by our President & CEO Heather Hitchens, our Master Class Series provides attendees with exclusive access to hear and learn from the titans of our theatre industry. Guests will range from top-tier Actors, Directors, Playwrights, Designers, and more! Attendees will have the opportunity to hear the many and vast ways to finding your way in the business with each featured artist sharing their unique journey and path to success as a creative.

About Master Class Artist, Cynthia Erivo 
Cynthia Erivo is a multiple award-winning actress who has made a name for herself on New York’s Broadway Stages, London’s West End, and on screen through her roles in several major motion pictures and television series. In 2015, Erivo made her Broadway debut starring as Celie in the critically acclaimed revival of The Color Purple for which she has since received a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, Theatre World Award, Outer Critic Circle Award, a Grammy Award, and an Emmy Award for her stellar performance.  In the spring of 2017, Erivo co-starred opposite Viola Davis in Widows directed by Oscar winning Steve McQueen. In 2018, she ventured into films such as Widows and thriller Bad Times at the El Royale. In 2019, Erivo was nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal of Harriet Tubman in the biopic titled, “Harriet”, and was also nominated for Best Original Song, “Stand Up” as well. Most recently, she starred in HBO’s crime drama miniseries, The Outsider. A UK native, Erivo graduated from the famed Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).
