The American Theatre Wing is proud to announce that two alumni from Wing programming, Daniel Bellomy and Marcus Gladney, will be making their Broadway debuts on January 8, 2018, with the Opening Night of Manhattan Theatre Club’s production of Choir Boy by Tarell Alvin McCraney.
Daniel Bellomy participated in the Wing’s college-to-career SpringboardNYC program in 2012. “The summer SpringboardNYC program was an incredible experience that offered so much preparation in moving to the city and beginning my career in the arts. The amount of information and networks that it exposed me to gave me some necessary direction to successfully navigate the arts and entertainment industry. It demystified the smoke and mirrors and encouraged me that I could, like any other career, plan my way to success. Thank you American Theatre Wing for all of your support,” said Daniel Bellomy.
Marcus Gladney received an Andrew Lloyd Webber Initiative University Scholarship in 2017 to attend Carnegie Mellon University.
“The ALW Initiative Scholarship is the ONLY reason I am where I am today. I was blessed to be accepted into Carnegie Mellon’s School of Drama, but the expenses were too much for my family to handle. Through the scholarship, I was able to attend and train at one of the best conservatory programs in the world. I am forever grateful for the doors the American Theatre Wing has opened for me in my journey as a theatre artist,” said Marcus Gladney.
“One of the Wing’s missions is to help foster the next generation of theater artists. We are thrilled that Daniel and Marcus, both of whom have benefitted from our programming, will be celebrating a once-in-a-lifetime moment making their Broadway debuts tonight.” said Heather Hitchens, President & CEO, American Theatre Wing.
