WINTER/SPRING 2015 INTERNSHIPS
The Wing is excited to announce three very unique internship opportunities with flexible start dates beginning in January 2015 for the winter/spring semesters.

 


 

 

ADMINISTRATIVE & MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIP

The internship requires a commitment through at least the end of May 2015, starting with a flexible schedule of a minimum of 15 hours/week in January/February.

 

Duties will include:

• Basic administrative support to Director of Programs and Program Department.

• Prepping for the spring 2015 season, including the Jonathan Larson Grants, Working in the Theatre, SpringboardNYC and the Obie Awards.

• Historical research and interest in preserving the history of the Wing.

• Background research on high level theatre personalities.

 

Skills Required:

• A flexible self-starter with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently.

• Passion and interest in the history of the American Theatre.

• Position demands strong attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency in MS applications, and a passion for and knowledge of New York theatre.

• A willingness to be flexible with work assignments.

• Knowledge of database experience also a plus but not required.

• Comfortable in a fast paced environment, eager to learn and ready to jump in wherever needed.

 

The candidate should be a junior or senior college student or a recent graduate. The internship is a part-time volunteer position; commitment of a minimum of two days is necessary. Reimbursements for travel and food are provided and school credit can be arranged.

DEVELOPMENT & EVENTS INTERNSHIP

ATW seeks a part-time Development and Events Intern to provide support for the Wing’s development department, as well as events ranging from cocktail receptions to the Annual Gala. The internship requires a commitment through at least the end of May 2015, starting with a flexible schedule of a minimum of 15 hours a week in February.

 

The Intern will gain knowledge of fundraising and event management, and valuable experience working within the nation’s oldest theatre support organization.

 

Duties will include:

• Assisting in researching viable sponsors, volunteer leadership, and donors

• Income and expense tracking

• Donor/guest list management

• Invitation production and mailing

• Assisting with donor cultivation and vendor management

 

The Intern should be highly motivated and should demonstrate excellent communication and analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, enthusiasm for learning, and willingness to take on large and small tasks. A passion for the Wing’s mission of serving and supporting the theatre is a must.

 

The candidate should be a junior or senior college student or a recent graduate. The internship is a part-time volunteer position; commitment of a minimum of two days is necessary. Reimbursements for travel and food are provided and school credit can be arranged.

DIGITAL MEDIA & ARCHIVE INTERNSHIP

ATW seeks an intern to help with the cataloging of our extensive media library (over 800 hours) of online programs that feature some of the best and brightest of the theatre community. The internship requires a commitment through at least the end of June 2015, starting with a flexible schedule of a minimum of 15 hours/week in January/February.

 

Duties will include:

• Viewing and listening to online media programs (mainly from YouTube) and podcasts (iTunes), cataloging episodes by title and/or number, participants, topics of discussion, and most importantly, “quotable moments” from each. Possibly transcribing entire episodes.

• Historical research and interest in preserving the history of the Wing and the Tony Awards.

• Background research on high level theatre personalities and/or knowledge of relevant current scene to assist in leveraging archive content

• Basic administrative support

 

Skills Required:

• Passion and interest in the history of the American Theatre.

• Position demands strong attention to detail.

• Proficiency in Adobe Premier Pro and/or other editing software, YouTube, MS applications.

• WordPress and iTunes skills a plus but not required.

 

The candidate should be a junior or senior college student or a recent graduate. The internship is a part-time volunteer position; commitment of a minimum of two days is necessary. Reimbursements for travel and food are provided and school credit can be arranged.
