#SoWeCanVote

19th Amendment

“The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.”   Additionally, the Nineteenth Amendment failed to fully enfranchise African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, and Native American women. Shortly after the amendment’s adoption, Alice Paul and the National Woman’s Party began work on the Equal Rights Amendment, which they believed a necessary additional step to ensure equality.

About #SoWeCanVote

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, the American Theatre Wing & WP Theater, launched the #SoWeCanVote campaign. The campaign highlights the foundation of the Wing and celebrates the suffragists who helped pave the way for women to vote while also providing resources on ways in which you can cast your ballot to make sure your vote gets counted in this year’s election.

When We All Vote

Research your ballot, know your rights, find your polling place… When We All Vote is your go-to resource hub for all things voting. When We All Vote is a non-profit, nonpartisan organization that is on a mission to increase participation in every election and close the race and age voting gap by changing the culture around voting, harnessing grassroots energy, and through strategic partnerships to reach every American. Launched in 2018 by co-chairs Michelle Obama, Tom Hanks, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Janelle Monae, Chris Paul, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, When We All Vote is changing the culture around voting using a data-driven and multifaceted approach to increase participation in elections.

Gender Equity Voting Collaborative

In partnership with When We All Vote, USOW has launched the Gender Equity Voting Collaborative to ensure that all women, from all communities, and across generations are registered and ready to cast their ballots.  The non-partisan voting Collaborative will shine a light on the countless organizations, especially those that are run by and center women, working around the clock to make sure their communities are voting. The Collaborative will also bring these groups together to share best practices, trainings, and tactics. By bringing women working on gender equity together, we will build a community of organizations and individuals that encourage their friends, their families and their communities to register and vote.
