Rosemarie Tichler
ROSEMARIE TICHLER B.A., Barnard College. Master's degree work in Dramatic Literature, University of California. Acting studies with Rose Schulman, Hedgerow Theatre. Casting Director, Theatre Communications Group, 1969-71. Associate Director for Artistic Services at TCG, 1972-74. Head of Casting, New York Shakespeare Festival, 1975-91 where she cast such landmark New York productions as Andrei Serban's The Cherry Orchard, Richard Foreman's Threepenny Opera, Mike Nichol's Streamers by David Rabe, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide... by Ntozake Shange, The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer, Aunt Dan and Lemon by Wallace Shawn, Plenty by David Hare, Caryl Churchill's Top Girls, Fen and Serious Money and The Colored Museum by George Wolfe. Artistic Producer of the Joseph Papp Public Theatre/New York Shakespeare Festival from 1991-2001. Productions include: Steven Berkoff's Richard II, Simpatico by Sam Shepard, Venus by Suzan-Lori Parks, Martin McDonagh's The Cripple of Inishmaan and George Wolfe's The Tempest and Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk, the Mike Nichols production of The Seagull at the Delacorte in August 2001. Teaches master classes at Juilliard. She is also Founder of The Shakespeare Lab, a training program in Shakespeare performance, housed at the Public Theatre; is on the board of directors of the Classic Stage Company and is a Tony Nominator.
