Robert Falls
ROBERT FALLS (Director) Broadway: Shining City, Long Day's Journey Into Night (Drama Desk Award, Tony nomination), Death of a Salesman (Tony Award), Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida, The Young Man from Atlanta, The Rose Tattoo, Night of the Iguana and The Speed of Darkness. Off-Broadway: Standing on My Knees (MTC), Blue Surge and On the Open Road (Joseph Papp Public Theater), The Food Chain and Eric Bogosian's subUrbia (Obie Award). Mr. Falls is the artistic director of Chicago's Goodman Theatre, where he most recently directed David Mamet's A Life in the Theatre. His many new works include premieres by Arthur Miller, Rebecca Gilman, Steve Tesich and John Logan and American premieres of plays by David Hare, Alan Ayckbourn and Jim Cartwright. He has directed award-winning productions of Three Sisters, The Tempest, The Misanthrope, Galileo and The Iceman Cometh as well as new musicals and operas for the Metropolitan Opera, the Lyric Opera Chicago, the Houston Grand Opera and the Grand Theatre de Genéve. He was recently elected to the Academy of Arts and Sciences.
