MELVIN BERNHARDT received the 1978 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play for and the 1977-1978 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Director for Hugh Leonard's Da, starring Barnard Hughes. Bernhardt received a Tony Award nomination and Drama Desk Award nomination as Best Director for the Pulitzer Prize-winning Crimes of the Heart in 1982. Other Broadway directing credits include: The Ballad of the Sad Cafe, Cop-Out, And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little, Hide and Seek, Dancing in the End Zone. Off-Broadway: The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds and Nancy Donohue's The Beach House (Circle Rep). TV: One Life To Live.
