MATTHEW MARKOFF is a graduate of New York University, where he majored in Theatre Arts at the Tisch School of the Arts and in Political Science at the School of Arts and Sciences. For over 15 years he has worked in Broadway theatre management, starting at Gatchell & Neufeld, Ltd. and continuing his employment with many of today's well known general managers including Alan Wasser, Charlotte Wilcox, Roger Gindi, and Adam Siegel. In addition to both commercial and non-profit management, Matthew worked consecutively for over 5 years with many Broadway national tours. He was the Engagement Manager for Les Miserables, as well as the Assistant Company Manager for Miss Saigon and The Phantom Of The Opera. In the role of Company Manager, he worked with the national tours of Ragtime, The Full Monty, and the All-Star Nunsense 20th Anniversary Tour featuring Kaye Ballard, Mimi Hines, Georgia Engel, Darlene Love and Lee Meriweather. Matthew finished his years on the road and came back to New York to take over the Company Manager role for the Broadway production of The Full Monty. It was after this that he started his current position, as the Company Manager for New York's preeminent non-profit LORT organization Lincoln Center Theater. It is here that Matthew oversees all productions at the Vivien Beaumont Theatre (a Broadway Tony-eligible theatre) and the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theatre (a 299-seat Off-Broadway LORT house), as well as Lincoln Center Theater productions performed at the Belasco, Booth, and Lyceum Theatres on Broadway. As Company Manager for Lincoln Center Theater, he has worked with several ground-breaking plays and musicals on Broadway: The Light in the Piazza, Awake and Sing!, the three-part trilogy of Tom Stoppard's The Coast of Utopia, Dividing the Estate, Joe Turner's Come and Gone, In The Next Room (or the vibrator play), and the renowned and currently running revival of South Pacific. Off-Broadway highlights include Dessa Rose and The Glorious Ones by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, Third by Wendy Wasserstein, Bernarda Alba by Michael John LaChiusa, The Clean House by Sarah Ruhl, Dying City by Christopher Shinn, The New Century by Paul Rudnick, and When The Rain Stops Falling by Andrew Bovell.. Matthew has also worked on one-person shows with some of Broadway's enduring stars, including John Lithgow's Stories By Heart, Brian Stokes Mitchell's Love/Life, and Barbara Cook's Broadway. The productions Matthew has Company Managed on Broadway have won numerous Tony Awards, including Best Play, Best Revival of a Play and Best Original Score.
