Lynne Taylor-Corbett
LYNNE TAYLOR-CORBETT, a native of Denver, received two Tony nominations for her direction and choreography of Broadway's Swing! She has also directed shows off Broadway and in regional theater. Her choreography can be seen in feature films Footloose and My Blue Heaven and in Disney's stage show, Aladdin, at the Hyperion Theatre in California. She has created works for American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet and the Carolina Ballet, where she is principal guest choreographer. Last December, in their City Center season, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre premiered her Prayers from the Edge which set the Romeo and Juliet story in the Middle East. Taylor-Corbett's work, Appearances, will be presented by the David Taylor Dance Theatre in Denver this May. Her collaboration with Pete Seeger entitled, The Ballad of You and Me, a multi-media tribute to his life and politics was presented at the Benadum Theatre in Pittsburgh. She also wrote and directed More Than a Song, an homage to Lena Horne that featured The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, a full Jazz ensemble and Vivian Reed as Lena. Upcoming, she is directing Natural Selection, a play written by two of her five sisters, Kelly Taylor and Sharon Talbot, and produced by Theatre Exile in Philadelphia. She is also developing an evening in collaboration with Tony-nominated writers Jack Murphy and Frank Wildhorne. Her proudest achievement is her Phi Beta Kappa son, Shaun Taylor-Corbett who gave up international relations for show biz and is presently appearing in the children's series Hi-5 which airs every morning on The Learning Channel.
