LINDA LAVIN ("Hollywood Arms", Nanny) was born in Portland, Maine, and has guest starred on HBO's The Sopranos and NBC's Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Ms. Lavin starred in the PBS production of Donald Margulies' Collected Stories, directed by Gil Cates, who directed her in the stage version at the Geffen Theatre in Los Angeles. In 2001-2002, Ms. Lavin received critical acclaim and her fourth Tony nomination for her role as Marjorie in The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, by Charles Busch. In 1997, she was nominated for a Tony Award for the role of Mrs. Van Daan in the revival of The Diary of Anne Frank. Her many other Broadway credits include John Guare's Cop Out; Wendy Wasserstein's The Sisters Rosensweig; Neil Simon's Last of the Red Hot Lovers and Broadway Bound, for which she won the Best Actress Tony, Helen Hayes, Drama Desk and Outer Critics awards. In 1996, she played Lillian Hellman in Off-Broadway's Cakewalk for Julian Schlossberg. Prior to that, she won the Best Actress Obie and Lucille Lortel awards for her work in Schlossberg's production of Death Defying Acts. Other Off-Broadway credits include The Mad Show and Patsy in Jules Feiffer's Little Murders, for which she won Best Actress Outer Critics and Saturday Review awards. For her starring role in Alice she was nominated for an Emmy and won the People's Choice Award and the Golden Globe Award two years in a row for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. She later starred in two other TV comedies, Room for Two with Patricia Heaton and Conrad Bloom with Marc Feuerstein. Ms. Lavin's additional television credits as director, producer and star include the movies A Matter of Life and Death, The $5.20 an Hour Dream, Another Woman's Child, A Place to Call Home, Like Mom, Like Me, Best Friends for Life with Gena Rowlands, A Dream Is a Wish, Flour Babies after-school special, The Sunset Gang (miniseries for PBS) and musical specials including Linda in Wonderland, which received two Emmy Awards. Her film credits include Alan Pakula's See You in the Morning, Jim Henson's The Muppets Take Manhattan and Alain Resnais' I Want to Go Home. Ms. Lavin resides in Wilmington, North Carolina, where she teaches master classes and has directed a Brazilian jazz version of As You Like It and most recently The Man Who Came to Dinner. She first worked with Mr. Prince in her Broadway debut, A Family Affair, and then again in It's a Bird... It's a Plane... It's Superman.
