Lewis Allen
LEWIS ALLEN has produced some 40 plays and motion pictures. He won three Tony Awards for Best Play for Master Class, I'm Not Rappaport and Annie. His production of Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play. Other productions include Vita and Virginia; Tru; A Few Good Men; the Quintero/Robards The Iceman Cometh; My One and Only; the Albee/McCullers' Ballad of the Sad Cafe; Peter Brook's The Physicists; Half a Sixpence; Big Fish, Little Fish (Tony Award for director John Gielgud); Billy Bishop Goes to War; Time to Laugh (Ruth Gordon and Robert Morley, directed by Tyrone Guthrie in London). Motion pictures produced include Peter Brook's Lord of the Flies, Francois Truffaut's Fahrenheit 451, Never Cry Wolf for Disney, Jonathan Demme/Spalding Gray's Swimming to Cambodia, Beth Henley's Miss Firecracker, Jean Genet's The Balcony, The Connection, Fortune and Men's Eyes, the documentary The Queen and, for TV, the Horton Foote miniseries Portrait of a Marriage.
