Jodi Benson
JODI BENSON was featured as the voice of Ariel in Walt Disney's The Little Mermaid. On broadway she created the roles of Polly Baker in , Doria Hudson in the Howard Ashman/Marvin Hamlisch production of Smile, Betty Bursteter in Cy Coleman's Welcome to the Club and Virginia in Marilyn: AN American Fable. Other theatre credits include tours of Sophisticated Ladies, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Once Upon A Mattress and West Side Story. In Los Angeles this season Ms. Benson appeared as Flora in Flora, the Red Menace (Pasadena Playhouse); Ado Annie in Oklahoma! (Dorothy Chandler Pavilion); and as Florence Vassy in Chess (Long Beach CLO), for which she received a Drama-Logue Award. Ms. Benson's voice can be heard on Hanna Barbera's Pirates of Dark Water, the upcoming P.J. Sparkles cartoon and Don Bluth's animated feature as the title voice in Thumbelina (November 1992). Her albums include Disney's Songs from the Sea and her new solo album for Sparrow Records.
