Jamie Schmidt
JAMIE SCHMIDT Music director, conductor and pianist, Jamie the founding Music Director for American Girl Place Theaters in Chicago and New York, for the past 8 years opening and music directing all shows and cast albums of The American Girls Revue and Circle of Friends. Also a free-lance musician, Broadway shows include The Light in the Piazza and Bombay Dreams; off-Broadway: I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. He was also Music Director and Orchestrator for the Long Wharf Theatre's 2004 production of Guys and Dolls. Jamie has been on the faculty of Lake Forest College (IL), as orchestra conductor and music director for the Theater Department; and the University of Michigan summer program at Villa Corsi-Salviati in Florence. Internationally, he has performed as Artist-in-Resident at Banff (Canada) Centre for the Arts, the Beckett Chapel in Peterborough, England, and at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, with the Holland Music Sessions. In April of 2003 and 2004, he performed at the April Spring Friendship Arts Festival in Pyongyang, North Korea. He holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, including a Masters in Opera Conducting.
