George Hearn
GEORGE HEARN Early credits include the national tour of Camelot and 1776 on Broadway, but a breakthrough performance occurred in 1980 when he took over the lead in Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd opposite Angela Lansbury. They reprised their roles for a Showtime production, for which Hearn won an Emmy Award. Following Tony Award-nominated performances in Watch on the Rhine and A Doll's House, he created the landmark role of Albin in the Broadway and West End productions of La Cage Aux Folles, singing the now-famous anthem "I Am What I Am," and won the Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle awards for Best Actor in a Musical. He won his second Tony and Drama Desk awards for originating the role of Max Von Mayerling in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard. Another Tony Award nomination followed for Sondheim's Putting It Together. He appeared on numerous episodes of Lansbury's hit television series Murder, She Wrote. Hearn is a member of the American Theatre Hall of Fame.

Bio as of January, 2011.
