Fred Golden
In a career that spanned over 60 years, FRED GOLDEN handled the advertising for over 1,000 shows, including such legendary Broadway productions as The Glass Menagerie, A Streetcar Named Desire, Call Me Madam, Mr. Roberts, A Raisin in the Sun, Hello, Dolly!, Funny Girl and Gypsy, among many others. He also served as Frank Sinatra and Liza Minnelli's advertising representative for many years. The League of American Theatres and Producers honored him at the 1988 Tony Awards with the Theatre '88 Award, for Lifetime Service to the Theatre. Variety once proclaimed Mr. Golden "The Dean of Theatrical Advertising," and Adweek called him "Broadway's Star Adman." He began his career in 1931 at the Blaine-Thompson Company, then the country's leading entertainment advertising agency, where he rose to become a partner and co-owner. The company was eventually sold, and in 1978 he moved to Ash/LeDonne, remaining there until 1984 when he left to form The Golden Group as the theatrical advertising division of the film agency Diener/Hauser/Bates. He retired in 1994 at the age of 79, but "to the end remained close to the theatre, sitting on industry committees, attending functions and dispensing counsel as one of Broadway's elder statesmen." (The New York Times) He passed away in July of 1998 at the age of 83.

Bio as of February, 2008.
