BENJAMIN MORDECAI’s 16 Broadway productions have all received Tony Award nomination -- 40 nominations in all -- and three have won Best Play (Fences, Angels in America Parts I & II). Four of Mr. Mordecai’s productions have received the Pulitzer Prize. During the Fall of 2001, he presented August Wilson’s Jitney at London’s Royal National Theatre, which received the Olivier Award for Best New Play. His most recent productions include Sixteen Wounded, the Broadway revivals of Flower Drum Song with a new book by David Henry Hwang and August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom starring Whoopi Goldberg. Mr. Mordecai is also Associate Dean of the Yale School of Drama where, in addition to teaching and chairing the school’s graduate theater management program, he is responsible for long-range planning, development and alumni affairs. From 1982 to 1993, he was managing director of Yale Repertory Theatre.
