ADA BROWN MATHER (1914-2008), was an esteemed acting teacher and dramaturge, whose former students included Sir Derek Jacobi, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Dame Judi Dench and Christopher Walken. She taught at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). The Academy of Dramatic Art at Oakland University in Michigan, The Julliard School, New York University, South Coast Rep and The University of Delaware, as well as privately in New York and Los Angeles. In addition to teaching acting, Ada also directed, at the Champlain Shakespeare Festival, the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival and regional theaters throughout the United States, acted occasionally and worked as a text consultant for Shakespeare productions at the Public Theater in New York and The Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.
